The Royal Exchange Theatre is widely acknowledged as one of the country’s leading regional producing theatres with a national and international reputation.
The performance space - a futuristic steel and glass module sitting within the historic dome of Manchester’s former Cotton Exchange - has drawn top flight actors such as Helen Mirren, Vanessa Redgrave, Tom Courtenay, Pete Postlethwaite and Brenda Blethyn since first opening in 1976.
The first brochure, Spring/Summer 08, was received with wonderful feedback from client, art directors and the public. With new clean type and layout, our first brochure included hand-crafted models to represent each play, loosely interpreted from synopses, then photographed by Ray Chan, here in our studio.
With abstract interpretations of plays and neutral type styles, no preconceptions of style or era could be made before the opening night; this was an important aspect of the design. Our second brochure - Autumn/Winter 08-09 - took a slightly new direction with Ray Chan providing the imagery again but, working more independent of us and closer with the Theatre’s Artistic director Greg Hersov to produce the imagery. The new brochure-Spring/Summer 09 continues with new photos supplied by Ray Chan
